Abstract
This PhD dissertation, as well as the research done during the work on it, are dedicated to an almost unexplored question - how the achievements of fashion of the XIX century costume are implied in the fashion collections of designers working at the beginning of this century. The question turned out to be very important and topical, and also with great heuristic potential. Its solution provides an answer to the question of possible tendencies for the visible image of the social ideal - an issue that is very successfully solved with the help of a fashionable costume, a visual product of public perceptions of modernity.
