Abstract

Consistent with the elaborate pillars of fashion design, within the framework of our own research, the observation that the 2009 fashion collections essentially represent a precise artistic synthesis of historical models from the 19th century, which evolve from the same primary idea, follow a strict thematic sequence and share a common general concept within a compact whole. Taking into account all the diverse theoretical perspectives — from the precise structural definitions of the world's departments, to the extensive socio-cultural analyses of Professor Ljubomir Stojkov and his comparative research with renowned global creators — we can draw the definitive and key conclusion of this paper: The fashion collection with a historical narrative is the ultimate expression of experimental and artistic fashion as a dynamic phenomenon, which has an interesting habit of taking elements from past centuries and reincarnating and telling them in a contemporary language. This fashion is rare and specific and is valued on the same level as art. It does not live only in the designer's preliminary drawings, nor does its influence end when the lights on the catwalk go out. A collection like this evolves into an undeniable historical and cultural fact only when its inner aesthetic code is successfully read, decoded and accepted by society. It is an authentic mirror of our time, a protective armor for our individuality and a sovereign aesthetic response to the eclecticism of fashion and the world that surrounds us.

Key words: historical costume of the XIX century, implication, fashion of the XXI century - 2009
