Abstract
For this research of the implication of the historical costume of the XIX century in the fashion trends of the autumn/winter collections in 2007, the most valuable are Barth's ideas, which he develops in the fifth chapter of his paper - "The significant unit" (The significant unit). In it, he makes a detailed analysis of the constituent character of the statement of meaning in fashion, which can become the basis for research that follows the logic of French structuralism, and is also aimed at the semiological originality of the substrate. It can be said that research in fashion, especially as it relates to its theoretical issues, is strongly influenced by Barthes's ideas related to clothing or variant, interweaving and extensions in the transformation of the matrix in fashion. Methodologically, the "Variants of relationship" are very useful, which the author classifies and sees as "variants of the situation", "variants of the distribution" and "variants of the connection". Barth's work represents a kind of instruction for applying the scientific ideas and methodology of structuralism, and the text of the book itself is "an ambitious genre of applied semiology". The subject of the research in this paper is the modern women's costume of the XIX century - its aesthetic and constructive values and artistic qualities, which makes it an object and model for re-creation in the fashion of the autumn-winter collections of 2007.
Key words: historical costume of the XIX century, implication, fashion of the XXI century – year 2007
