Abstract
This paper refers to the Islamic musical tradition at the time of the Ottoman Empire on the territory of the Republic of macedonia. Religion was an integral part of the Ottoman state and political power, the forms of divine service, and thus the spiritual music, had an official status. Spiritual music had a ceremonial character and took palce in two branches: mosques and tekkes(Sufi convents).
