Abstract

This paper elaborates the role of OSCE in implementing the preventive measures and activities to promote democracy and peace in SEE. The basis for the functioning on OSCE in SEE region is a European security policy and its goals to establish a lasting peace in the areas affected by the security challenges.
The paper retains a line which covers issues important for the functioning, cooperation, position, characteristics and functioning of the OSCE in the SEE. Particularly the most important mission on OSCE is the implementation of activities within the scope of the organization to the preservation of the nature, safeguarding and protection of human rights, which are solved with general mechanisms and broader aspects of international and inter-ethnic conflicts or problems.
A significant aspect of the topic is revealing the relations and cooperation with OSCE with other international organizations, particularly in the areas of primary prevention tool for warning, conflict prevention and crisis management. Finally, we will elaborate the current activities of the OSCE in this SEE country: Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
