Abstract
One of the contemporary teaching models that enables an integrated, inclusive, and holistic approach to the educational process in primary schools is team or co-teaching. It is based on collaboration between classroom teachers and physical and health education teachers, whose comon goal is the comprehensive development of the student through high-quality, safety, and motivating physical education teaching.
This paper is based on a theoretical analysis of relevant scientific and professional literature, specifically focusing on the professional competencies of these two teaching roles, their complementarity, and the importance of continuous professional development for the successful implementation of team, co-teaching in primary education.
The analysis indicates that initially acquired competencies are not sufficient for the full and effective implementation of team, co- teaching, particularly in the areas of interdisciplinary integration, teamwork, and inclusive teaching practices. Therefore, the need for systematic and continuous professional development is emphasized as a key prerequisite for improving the overall quality of teaching. Team/co-teaching is highlighted as a new strategic approach that fosters the creation of a modern, inclusive, and motivating educational environment and supports the holistic development of the student.
