Abstract

Folk architecture in Macedonia achieves the pick of its development in the 19th and the beginning of the 20th C. Within this period, based on the social and economical circumstances, since there was intensive development of trade, craft, cattle rising and agriculture, the conditions have been achieved to enable enlargement of the number and size of houses in the rural and urban settlements. Depending on the location and structure of the objects in rural settlements, they can be divided into compacts and dispersed ones, with maala (sections, quarters), middle section -sredselo, where a tub, well etc. are situated. Within the village there were household/economy courts (stopanski dvor ) with barns, granary, place for keeping haystacks, stable, pigsty, chicken coop, tannery, vine yard, tub etc.
