The paper presents the research carried out on electromagnetic radiation from power
lines. The increased need for energy, especially electricity, leads to the installation of a
relatively dense network of power lines. The rapid development of the cities, often, fit
these installations in the urban areas. Question of the possible impact on the health of
the people due to exposure to electric and magnetic fields in the environment is of
interest for a long period, because the results of some studies that seem to link the
occurrence of cancer, especially leukemia in children living near electrical power
overhead distribution or transmission lines.
The paper is based on the constraints given by ICNRP (International Commission on
Non-Ionising Radiation Protection). International Commission on Non-Ionizing
Radiation Protection Rules “Guidelines for limiting exposure to time-varying electric,
magnetic and electromagnetic fields in frequency range from 0 to 300GHz” in 1998.
Appropriate reference levels for public exposure to electric field E = 5kV / m and
magnetic field B = 100T .
Measurements have been conducted with the instrument Multidetector II profi produced
by the company AARONIA. Investigated area is 400 kV transformer station near Stip.
In this paper is presented protocol measurements and displayed maps of the
electromagnetic radiation of the investigated area.
