The paper analyzed the network of high voltage transmission lines in the Republic of Macedonia with special attention to the needs of connection among the energetic system with the neighboring countries. The choice of the route of the transmission line is a complex procedure that involves satisfying several conditions, such as: the needs of the energy system, geological features where the route passes and certainly have to meet the legal standards for preserving the environment.
The Republic of Macedonia is a small country with a modest potential of the power system. In this regard, connection with neighboring countries is a necessary step, although our neighbors are in similar or worse energy situation. Electricity system of the country is connected to the 400 kV network in Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria and Greece.
In the phase of design is connection to the energy system of Albania.
Republic of Macedonia is characterized by high-relief crisscrossed by deep river canyons and valleys. Steep slopes over the complex topography are potential spaces where landslides may occur. The problem of the stability of the ground increases the complex geological structure and contemporary tectonic activity, often expressed in the form of relatively strong earthquakes.
In this paper are presented researches on defining route Stip-Serbia (border).
