Abstract
This article treat the problematic of narrative and historical time in the novel "Under the Yoke" of Ivan Vazov.
Branched narration of the novel allows several types of summaries to be identified, in which the causal principle and the presence of so-called "Cardinal cores" (= pivotal narrative nests) are preserved, according to the terminology of Roland Barthes.
The novel "Under the Yoke" allows the temporal category to be followed in it, after such a manner that on the foundation of extremely complex narrative time, there are found or even better, can be recognized reliable historical moments from one of the most important periods of Bulgarian revolutional history.
Narrative time is indicator of narrative mastery of Smith and the influence of Victor Hugo in building Romanesque structure, and historical time of high revolutionary charge in the remarkable epoch- before Liberation.
