Abstract
Learning objects are digital resources used in the learning process. The idea is these learning objects to be used as small pieces of educational content and to combine them to be able to create larger units of learning. Learning objects are described with metadata and stored in the repository. The aim to be achieved is for the end-users to be able to easily locate facilities for learning repositories and that they can be reused unlimited times. To achieve this goal, repositories need to be standardized, i.e. to be interoperable and to easily connect with each other. Another condition to be fulfilled is the repositories to be localized, that is, to be adapted to the language and culture of an ethnically and geographically defined community.
This thesis presents the methodology for the implementation of standardized Localized Learning Objects Repository (LLOR). Functional requirements and the technology used for the repository are given. Procedure Localized Metadata Enrichment (LME) is described, which takes place through the Localized Metadata Transliteration (LMT) and Localized Metadata Word Stemming (LMWS). Creation of international Keywords and Metadata Vocabulary (KwM-VB) is also described.
