Abstract

Introduction:An autologous transfusion is an act of self-donation, in which the donor and the recipient are and the same person. Blood transfusion have always been related to a certain risk starting from minor allergy reaction, ending very rarely even with a mortality of the recipient.The autologous transfusion is considered to be safest blood product, and during last years it has been widely implemented.
Objective: The objective of this study is to show our experience in transfunding an autologous blood transfusion on operated patients of the orthopedic section in Stip.
Conclusion:After a well-carried out selectio of 91 patients with an indication for hip transplantation, 9 (9,89%) of the patients were subjected to a pre-operative self-donation and provision of 4 units of blood. The autologous transfusion has advantage also with patients with rare blood types, sensible patients and it has no limits concerning age limit ets. Because of all this, it is recommended a preparation of programs for an autologous donation of blood to each transfusion service that practices collection and transfunding of an autologous blood transfusion.
