Abstract
Viral hepatitis B is acute infectious disease of viral etiology characterized by
involvement parenhmot liver and its manifested by the jaundice. Disease flows in
various forms, from asymptomatic, mild to severe, and often passes into chronicity.
Theconsequence may be liver cirrhosis or hepatocellular carcinoma. Often can be
meets in virus carriers.
The main objective is to describe the epidemiological characteristics of viral hepatitis
B in the Republic of Macedonia in Skopje for the period 2000-2009 year. To assess
the significance of the paths of transmission, age, sex, location, profession and
seasonal nature of the disease.
The realization of the objective is applied descriptive epidemiological method,
statistical processing and data analysis.
In the period from 2000 to 2009 in this country are registered 1810 persons infected
with hepatitis B, and in the City in the same period registered a total of 378 infected
persons.
Ways of transfer of disease is done through contact and direct and indirect contact.
Total vackionated persons in the city and surrounding areas (villages) are 348 in
town and 30 people infected in the villages.
Type of hepatitis B affects individuals of all ages and both sexes. Age group over 20
years of age is usually presented. The structure of infected persons by sex in the
area of Skopje, the 2000-2009 year. represented more males. Hepatitis B virus has
no seasonal fluctuations.
