Abstract

The ACE²-EU Values Toolbox is a practical and action-oriented framework developed within the ACE²-EU European University Alliance to promote the implementation of European values through concrete educational, institutional, cultural, and community engagement activities. Building upon the principles of democracy, human dignity, freedom, equality, the rule of law, human rights, peace, solidarity, and sustainability, the Toolbox seeks to transform shared European values into meaningful experiences and everyday practices across partner universities.

The publication provides a comprehensive collection of proposed activities, including interactive workshops, student-led initiatives, mobility-related activities, intercultural events, awareness campaigns, volunteering opportunities, and creative projects. Particular emphasis is placed on active student participation, inclusive learning environments, academic freedom, intercultural understanding, equal opportunities, and social responsibility.

A central component of the Toolbox is the proposed ACE²-EU Values Week, a coordinated Alliance-wide initiative that allows partner universities to organise locally adapted activities under a shared European framework. The publication also introduces creative engagement formats and flagship initiatives, including the ACE²-EU Change Maker Ambassador Programme, the ACE²-EU Kaleidoscope Festival, and the Human Rights and Sustainability Hackathon, designed to strengthen student engagement, institutional cooperation, and community participation.

Structured around the practical sequence of Plan – Implement – Create – Share, the Toolbox encourages universities to move beyond the symbolic promotion of European values towards their systematic integration into university life. Its broader objective is to strengthen a shared European identity, foster sustainable institutional transformation, and develop an inclusive, participatory, and values-driven academic culture across the ACE²-EU Alliance.
