Our Values in Action

On 29 September 2026, within the framework of the Virtual Town Hall Meeting “Our Values in Action”, organised by the ACE²-EU European University Alliance, Prof. Dr. Ana Nikodinovska Krstevska from Goce Delcev University in Štip delivered a lecture dedicated to the practical implementation of European values in higher education and their role in the institutional transformation of universities.

The lecture presented two key instruments developed within the Alliance – the ACE²-EU Values Brochure and the ACE²-EU Values Toolbox – designed to translate the fundamental values of the European Union, including democracy, freedom, equality, human dignity, the rule of law, and solidarity, into concrete educational, institutional, and societal practices. Particular emphasis was placed on the methodological approach to implementing these values in teaching, student mobility, university governance, and community engagement, as well as on mechanisms for monitoring and evaluating their implementation.

The central message of the lecture highlighted the transformative power of European values and European University Alliances, which, through shared practices, institutional change, and long-term cooperation, contribute to the development of an inclusive, democratic, and values-driven university culture. It was emphasised that genuine transformation occurs when European values move beyond declarative principles and become an integral part of universities’ everyday operations, decision-making processes, institutional structures, and organisational culture.
