Abstract
In this study, we examine how Macedonian speakers use the speech act of requesting in everyday interaction. To collect our data, we employed a questionnaire based on non-probability sampling. Our analysis followed the coding framework from Blum-Kulka and Olshtain’s Requests and Apologies: A Cross-Cultural Study of Speech Act Patterns (CCARP). The aim of the research is to describe how requests are formed in Macedonian, identify the strategies underlying these patterns, and investigate how frequently these strategies appear across different communicative contexts.
