Abstract
Considering the above data, it may be concluded that water passages as part of the energy resources transport routes are as important as the resources themselves. Their geopolitical significance stems from necessity or compulsoriness of their transfer and certainly from the shortened route whose accessory parts are the passages themselves. Due to this exclusivity, is important
to comply with international regulations, to persist political stability and good neighborly relations, to maintain security from piracy, i.e. factors that are actually directly related to and impact on the global economy and which are important elements of geopolitical balance at the same time. Considering the fact that the price of energy products is directly related to the transit route selected, it can be assumed that they are conditioned by the transit points of the route. Namely, if the advantage of a time points is a shorter route they offer, than their eventual closure represents the biggest threat in terms
of transport and the level of prices, which means a direct impact on the economy. The closure may be caused by several factors, including, extreme weather conditions, which is common in the case of the Turkish channel of Bosporus
(which is not part of this analysis) or as a result of clashes between the neighboring countries whose shores flipped out to the water flows or a military conflict and political instability. Therefore, an alternative is the use of pipeline that recently targeted by new construction and investment projects.
