Abstract
In the existing literature, there are several criteria for dividing music labels, and depending on their scope of work, we can divide them into two basic types: major labels and independent labels. In the urban centers of Macedonia, the hip hop culture began to emerges in the 80s of the past century, and in the mid-90s the first labels began to appear. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the musical opus of the independent hip hop label Arena Records. For the needs of the paper, secondary sources of data were used by consulting relevant literature as well as the Internet. In addition, information related to the historical development of the independent hip hop label Arena Records, collaborations with artists from the country and abroad, official and unofficial releases, music and video production, album promotion, etc. was collected through an interview. Research for the purpose of this paper shows that the musical opus of official and unofficial releases from Arena Records in the period 1999-2015 includes 17 albums by artists and groups, three of which are compilation albums.
