Abstract

The lecture was give in occasion of a Seminar for the course of International Organizations organized by the Department of Legal Science from the University of Salerno, within the activities of the project 'Jean Monnet Chair in Promoting Public Awareness on Enlargement Policy, EU Values and the Western Balkans’ Accession'. The subject of the lecture was an introdcution and analysis of the membership pathways of North Macedonia to the United Nations and the European Union, using a comparative approach to both cases. The lecture outlined the main obstacles of the entry of North Macedonia to these two international organization, stressing the name dispute with Greece, and the language, history and identity dispute with Bulgaria, and focused on the violation of art. 2 of the UN Charter, and in paralel on the different conditionalities imposed by the EU in the European integration process of the country.
