Abstract
A square-wave voltammetric method is developed for the determination of probucol on mercury electrode. Probucol is an important drug and it is a surface-active compound having tendency to adsorb on the surface of lipophilic mercury electrode. In neutral media, probucol shows electrochemical activity with SWV peak appearing at potential about -1.0 V. In this work we present a SWV method in which optimization of instrumental and experimental parameters is made for direct detection of probucol. By using adsorptive stripping voltammetry, we could detect probucol in sub-micromolar range with help of square-wave voltammetry.
