Gender construction through fairy tales - female characteristics

Fairy tales are designed to accomplish different social functions in multiple contexts. The participants in the research in this field agree that often stories of childhood, or stories, play a privileged role in constructing childrens representations of themselves. As part of the deepest and most enduring children's impressions, the stories are intended to influence the embedded cultural norms and values designed to reinforce social expectations. Their retelling by parents emphasizes children's commitment to these values, especially among young girls. It stems from the fact that most of the stories involve female characters. The purpose of the research is to attempt to elaborate on exactly these qualities of female characters and their different identities.
