Abstract

The ions of transient metals play exceptional role in many physiological processes, while acting as co-factors in many enzymes. Moreover, many of transient metal ions are present in relevant physiologically active systems such as Cobalt in Vitamin B12, Iron in Hemoglobin and Myoglobin, Copper in Cytochromes and many more. We give the readers an overview of some of the most important physiological functions of the ions of transient metals, and we present a specific voltammetric techniques suitable to detect these ions. Lecture is suitable for the undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Medicine and Phycisal Chemistry
