Abstract

Many enzymes that contain quinone moieties or polyvalent metal ions (V, W, Mo, Mn) as redox active centers, exhibit electrochemical transformation in two consecutive electron transfer steps: Ox(ads) + n1e- = Int(ads) + n2e- = Red(ads). If the final product of this redox transformation [Red(ads)] can react with a given substrate "Y" in a way of regenerating the intermediate Int(ads) in a chemical fashion, than we should consider an electrode mechanism which is called "Surface EEC' catalytic mechanism". Major features of this mechanism are published in our work: Electroanalysis 31 (2019) 2488-2506 and in "Biophysical Chemistry 155 (2011) 1-9. In this work we present the entire MATHCAD simulation protocol of this mechanism. One can used it for free to simulate the influence of various parameters in this important electrode mechanism. The SW voltammetric features of this mechanism depend on two dimensionless kinetic parameters related to both electron transfer steps, and in addition on chemical catalytic parameter that is linked to the rate of regenerative reaction. The interplay of all parameters give rather complex patterns that can be rationalized depending on the potential at which both electron transfer steps appear.
