Acute poisonings with corrosive substances cause various chemical injuries along the entire upper gastrointestinal tract and they can be either superficial or destructive, often leading to serious and fatal complications, such as perforation. The outcome of these intoxications depends on the severity of the injuries, clinical state of the patient and obtainability of adequate medical treatment [1-3]. Unfortunately, acute corrosive poisonings in adults have high mortality rates and still remain serious medical and social problem
