Abstract
Cerebrovascular diseases in the population in R. Macedonia from day to day shows a tendency to a steady increase. Ischemic strokes are the most common type of stroke that covers more than 85% of all strokes. In the acute stage, physical therapy and rehabilitation is aimed at preventing of the complications of the locomotor apparatus and cardiorespiratory system. The best results are obtained if the rehabilitation starts earlier. Extensive, long-lasting and targeted therapy is designed to correct and mitigate the consequences of this disease. It is also necessary to provide support to the patient to adapt to the condition.
Materials and methods
Statistical data were taken from the Center for Public Health in Stip. The cases reported are patients of the Neurological Unit at the Clinical Hospital in Stip. The data are processed descriptively, epidemiologically and statistically. The research was conducted for a period of 3 years and the results are displayed graphically and tabularly. Patients are selected according to the underlying diagnosis of cerebral infarction (MKB-10 I63) and criterias for excluding patients from complications have not been included.
Results
From the research about number of patients with cerebral infraction, we have results that show that the number of man patients in 2015, 2016 and 2017 year is 133, and the number of women patients is 124. The total number of hospital days of men is 1604, and in women it is 1504.
Conclusion
From this research we can conclude that the incidence of stroke increases grows linear with age increase, and the peak of occurrence is 60-69 years. Cerebral infarction is more common in men than in women. Different drug and non-medicated methods influence brain plasticity and help the process of structural and functional brain reorganization that determines the possibility of continuous functional restoration after brain infarction.
