Abstract

The goal of these examinations was to confirm the presence of diseases, pests, and weeds in the pepper variety "Kurtovska kapija" from seeding production to harvest.
During 2006, the presence of more diseases, pests, and weeds were registred on the seedlings as well as on the grown plants. The bacterial disease, Pseudomonas syringae pv.Syringae, and the leaf aphids from the pests were noticed on the seedlings.
Starting from the seedling replanting up to the harvest the following fungal diseases were noticed: Phytophthora capsici, Verticillium spp., Leveillula taurica, Fusarium spp. and Alternaria spp.Bacteria that caused problems were Xanthomonas campestris pv. vesicatoria and Erwinia carotovora subsp. Carotovora. In addition , the presence of some viruses were noticed, too (Tobacco mosaic virus - TMV, Cucumis mosaic virus - CVM and Alfaalfa mosaic virus - AAMV), but they were insignificant for the cultivar.
The noticed pests were the leaf aphids (Aphididae), Noctuidae, and the thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis and Thrips tabaci).
The weeds found were Galinsoga parviflora, Amaranthus retroflexus, Portilaca oleracea and Echinocloa crus-gali.
