Abstract

Globalization and consolidation lead to very rapid and major changes, both in different industries and in different countries. The tobacco industry in general does not stand aside from the changes and is well settled in the processes of globalization and consolidation.
Basically, globalization and consolidation departing from the principles of rationalization and efficiency in marketing (creation and opening of new markets), the reduction of operating costs in general and the increase in profits and investment. The aim is to increase production efficiency and quality, and scientific research in the tobacco industry in order to reduce the extent Hence, the likely adverse effects of smoking on human health, in terms of increased antismoking propaganda.
In the spirit of these basic principles of globalization, in the sphere of production of tobacco and cigarettes, tobacco companies are united (integrated), and therefore in the world occur less multinational companies, but those who globalize becoming more demanding. In the trend of global change, national organizations holders of tobacco should perceive their advantage and a chance to develop and choose the manner and form to join this inevitable process.
This paper will try to discern the needs and perspectives it brings globalization, and the possible consequences of non-adaptation to these global trends.
