Abstract
In this paper first made reference to the presence of mythological elements in several works by contemporary Macedonian authors for children and teenagers and then separately to interpret and analyze these elements in the works. Emphasis is placed on the presence of mythological elements in some novels and short stories of fantastic type. In these works mythological influence is felt through the topics that are characteristic of myth, but found its place in contemporary literature for children and youth. One of those themes is the theme of metamorphosis/transformation which finds particular expression in fairy tale, where as in myth, every member in the chain man-animal-plant-object, can be converted to another member. Such humanising of nature and animals comes from ancient animistic belief that the Universe is a unity of living and the dead world.
