Abstract

The main purpose if this study is to determine the correlation between education level of parents and habits of visiting the dentist at 15 year old children from rural and urban areas.Materials and Methods: The study included selected group of students at 15 year old and their parents ( 120 from urban and 120 from rural areas) and their parents who filled guestionnaires for the educational level of parents ( elementary, middle, high, Phd) and habits of visiting the dentist. Using the X2 test were found statistically highly significant difference of values in terms of the educational level of parents ( p<0.01 ) between respondents of experimental groups A and B. Result of X2 test indicate that there is a statistically significant difference ( p < 0.05) of values for visiting dentist between respondents of experimental groups A and B. What is emphazing is that the family is the first environment that allows each member physical, mental and social forming, knowledge, habits and attitudes, and how this process develops over a lifetime can confidently say that what was established in early children shoud be initial part of the activities for prevention of diseases of the mouth and teeth. So by kindergartens, schools clinic and nursing services to parents and children should be given basic information guidelines for the preservation of health and the importance of dental check- ups at the dentist.
