Abstract

This paper presents a modelling of the stress–strain behaviour during the turning process in MATLAB. The material response is simulated under real machining conditions, including the transition from elastic to plastic deformation as governed by classical elasticity and yield‑criterion theory. The resulting stress-strain curve is visualised as a dynamic diagram that clearly marks the yield point and delineates elastic and plastic regimes. The model demonstrates both theoretical relevance and practical applicability, serving as a foundation for parametric studies, process optimisation, and the development of advanced simulation tools in metal cutting and material forming.
