Abstract

Hydraulic cylinders are devices that very offen move large masses with high potential energy at high speeds. Abrupt stopping at its end possitions, the hydraulic cylinders may damage or destroy itselfs or the whole system. To prevent the hydraulic system from damaging, the incorporation of the cushioning devices are instroduced in the design of the hydraulic cylinder to help smoothly stop at the end possition. In this work a mathematical model of a conical cushioning device in verticaly mounted hydraulic cylinder is developed and simulated the transient process at the end of its stroke.
