Abstract

The case study “Studying the Macedonian Language by the
Non-Majority Students” aimed at locating the reasons for the
occurrence of the problem on this issue and drawing conclusions and recommendations on future sustainable solutions. In this direction, the research was conducted via three methods. In the first part of the research there was an analysis of the normative regulations, while in the second part, the research was conducted via an analysis of statements and opinions given in the media and in public debates, as well as an analysis of the results obtained from the interviews made with experts of various professional profiles and various ethnicity. The research showed the main reason for the occurrence of the problem was the unpreparedness and lack of involvement of the stakeholders in the decisions that directly concern them. More specifically, the study concludes that studying the Macedonian language is an essential need and it should start to be studied at an earliest age. The best example for this are the pilot projects for preschool and primary bilingual education, which can be implemented in the easiest way via a relaxed approach in the preparation of the parents and teachers, rather than by imposing
