Abstract
“Christ Symbolism in Bach’s Music” was a lecture given by prof. d-r Milica Skarik as part of the Music and Mysticism Session organized by Inayatiyya South Asia and hosted via Zoom on January 7th 2024. The topic was about Bach’s “hidden” musical symbols representing the annunciation of Christ’s birth, the arrival of the King, the adoration of the Magi, the step motif of faith, the water element, the small and the big cross, the sighing motif, lamento bass ect. It was shown why from musical perspective Bach is sometimes called the 5th Evangelist and is the most famous musical interpreter of the New Testament.
