Abstract

On the 23rd of September 2021, at the Faculty of Law, University Goce Delchev – Sthip, was held the MAPS international conference on ‘Outsourcing and Cooperation with Third Countries – Deconstructing the Formal and the Informal in Migration and Asylum Policies’.

The conference was organized within the framework of the project Jean Monnet Networks ‘Migration and Asylum Policies Systems’ – MAPS (www.mapsnetwork.org), led by the University of Naples ‘Orientale’, in which the Faculty of Law, UGD – Shtip participated together with other 9 universities. On the conference issues were discussed issues related to externalization of migration and asylum policies and cooperation with third countries, which were examined both through the prism of the academia and scientific research, and through practice and experts working on the field. During the conference, it was shown an exhibition of posters on migration and asylum and human rights, prepared by students of the Academy of Fine Arts at the University Goce Delchev – Shitip, elaborated under the mentorship of Jana Jakimovska, and other art pieces were exhibited from different authors who collaborated with our Macedonian NGO partners. Also, it was shown a journalist presentation of the student Ivana Miteva, about the situation in Afghanistan.

The conference was opened and addressed by the Vice-rector for teaching and students, prof. Mishko Dzidrov, the Ambassador of the Italian Republic in North Macedonia, H.E. Andrea Silvestri and the Representative of the UNCHR in North Macedonia, Monica Sandri.
