Abstract

In the frame of the Erasmus conference, the basis of the polymer composite materials and their production technologies were discussed. Polymer Composites are high performance materials made from fibre reinforced polymers (FRPs). FRPs are ideal materials for structural applications where high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios are required.
Requirements for the FRPs are multiple and of different kind i.e. they are multidisciplinary and comprise different branches of science: mechanics, chemistry, physics, and strength of materials.
