Abstract
Chemical terrorism is the form of terrorism, which uses the toxic effects of chemicals to kill, injure or otherwise adversely affects of its targets. So there are many controversies about the definition of the politically-charged word "chemical terrorism" and their tactics, technology and other forms of chemical warfare. Most used tactics of the chemical terrorism include:
- Chemical contamination of reservoirs and urban water supply systems;
- Chemical contamination of food, beverages, cosmetics and other daily products in manufacturing distribution;
- Chemical contamination of: stamps/envelopes, fluids and etc.
- Releasing of gases and aerosols into building HVAC systems;
- Releasing of gases and aerosols in the city or village area for avoiding a chemical contamination of land, food, people, animals and other things and other similar tactics as the mentioned above.
For an example, Surya before several years had more than 1300 tons of different type of chemical poisons, which most of them were mustard gas and blister agents.
We were witnesses of UN resolutions and NATO military intervention for destroying of these chemical weapons of mass destruction, because they were used on a people and political opponents of the Assad regime.
One of the lot of remarkable examples of using chemical weapons for terrorist purpose is from ISIS against Kurdish soldiers on 23.01.2015 year. ISIS used a truck bomb filled with chlorine against Kurdish troops. In this event more than a 30 Kurdish soldiers were injured.
In the concluding part of our poster paper, we will expose our comprehensive analysis with main focus on the countries capacities for detecting, controlling and dealing with the dangers from the chemical terrorism.
First, the world, countries must protect themselves from the extensive range of critical chemical agents.
Second, the world, countries should invest in national defense, especially in the systems for detecting and preventing the chemical and other unconventional weapons of mass destruction.
And last but not least, the chemical terrorism includes a future proactive activities for developing a more efficient health, public communication infrastructure as a multilevel network of diagnostic chemical agents.
This system will improve the countries' ability to investigate, control and to take timely prevention measures from chemical agents.
Key words: Challenges, threats, terrorist methods, chemical terrorism, prevention
