Abstract

This paper represents a phenomenon which has been progressively approaching the youth in both the world and our country. The particularity of this phenomenon is about parties within the frames of the so called DJ culture which is the most appropriate adaptation symbol for all technical novelties in the music sphere, and largely accepted by the youth. According to data received from an interview with the organizers of these parties, it can be seen that the increase of interest for this kind of music entertainment by the young population in Skopje is a result of the socio-cultural changes in the changing society which are a reflection of the dominant influence on the world DJ music; the marketing activities by the organizers; organizing performances in big halls. Compared with the year 2000, when the number of visitors was between 500 and 1000 people, only five years later this number ranged between 2000 and 4000 visitors, and today the number is 6000. About 150 events take place on average during a year, or 25% of the total number of events organized in Skopje, and they hold the second place according to representation in the overall genre distribution in the music milieu in the central part of the city. The real number of events is considerably high, but we have presented only the ones fulfilling certain concert standards regarding the organization of those parties, thus we observe the rest of them as a regular program in discotheques. The difference is that it is not about a classical form of a concert, but it is more about a party and entertainment for the young population; consequently they are of a greatest number.
