Abstract

Introduction: The loss of primary teeth in children leads to difficulty in speaking, chewing, swallowing and incorrect eruption of permanent teeth. Replacing the missing teeth is essential for restoring the defect in the oral cavity, for restoring functions, and for storing space for future permanent teeth. Flexible partial dentures represent a more contemporary and more acceptable solution for teeth replacement in children. They are biocompatible, flexible, do not break, have a small weight index. The purpose of this study is to show flexible prostheses as a temporary solution to toothless in childhood.
Case report: Patient 3 years old male, a clinical examination was diagnosed partial toothless. In the patient missing maxillary central and lateral incisors that were fractured and properly extracted. In consultation with the parents, it was decided to make a prosthesis with a flexible base made of Valplast material which due to its flexibility allows the smooth growth and development of oropharyal structures. Impressions were taken and sent to the laboratory where denture was made. After try-in the was adapted to the patient. After follow-up there were no signs of changes in the denture.
Conclusion: These dentures have flexibility that is making them resistant to breaking and easily adjustable for patients, have a great transparency and imitate the color of the gums and teeth.
Key words: children, dentures, flexible, valplast, patient.
