Abstract

Introduction. After losing a tooth in the anterior region the patients immediately seek a solution for this newly occurred problem. Should the indications be right, a resin bonded bridge enforced with glass fibre tape can be proposed as an aesthetic treatment option .
Case Description. A patient came to our clinic for a treatment after losing a left central lower incisor. After examining the patient, several options like prosthetic and surgical with prosthetic were proposed, but she declined them all. At last a resin bonded bridge was chosen as an option due to the aesthetic that it provides and the minimally invasive technique. A full mouth ultrasonic scaling was conducted prior to the treatment for optimal conditions. The adjacent teeth were etched with a 37 % phosphoric acid for 60 seconds. After the etching the teeth were rinsed off from the acid and kept dry for the entire treatment. On the etched surface a 7-th generation bond was applied and polymerized. A glass fiber tape was adapted and bonded on the surfaces off the adjacent teeth. Tooth like structure was build around the fiber glass tape with a micro-hybrid composite resin. The treatment ended with finishing and polishing the structure as well as instructions for the patient on how to maintain the resin bonded bridge.
Discussion. The adhesion that provides the 7-th generation bond and the glass fiber’s strength will play the key roles for the longevity off this structure.
