Abstract

This paper makes reference to two novels of world literature for children and young people, Tom Sawyer and Pippi Longstocking, more precisely, it attempts to talk about the aspect of freedom of the child and his maturation through the two main characters. This is done by analyzing their reactions to everyday life situations in which they are trying to preserve their freedom which for them is something sacred, and they obey only the law of the game and fantasy. It simultaneously shows the desire of the child for self-realization and self-validation.
