Abstract
FEMS is a federation of microbiological societies in Europe connecting 50 member societies from 36 European countries, covering over thirty thousand microbiologists. Members can apply for fellowships, grants and/or support when organizing meetings.
FEMS facilitates exchange of scientific knowledge to all microbiologists in Europe and worldwide by publishing five microbiology journals and organizing a biennial congress for microbiologists around the world.
FEMS vision is to coordinate and lead the acquisition of scientific knowledge and innovation in microbiology and to maximise communication of this knowledge, and its importance, to scientists, politicians, policy makers, industry and the general public.
FEMS provides different types of grants such are: Meeting Attendance Grants,
Meeting Grants for support of scientific conferences, laboratory workshops and training courses, Start-up grants to support National or Regional Microbiological Congresses,FEMS Research Fellowships to assist young European scientists in pursuing research up to 3 months in a European country different to that in which the applicant resides.
