Abstract

The paper presents geological structure, registered seismicity, local geomagnetic field and Bouguer anomaly field in Skopje depression. This area is of particular importance for the country given that here is almost half of the total population and nearly 80% of the country’s economy.
Earthquake in 1963 trigger the start of a wide range of geological and geophysical surveys in Skopje depression. This space is part of the Vardar zone. Tectonically is important because here cross faults from Vardar direction and transverse to them. Active geotectonic processes in this area for a relatively short time clutter potential energy that in the moment when exceed the limit elastic properties of the rock mass is released in the form of an earthquake.
On the profile Tetovo-Kocani passing through Skopje depression is given depth of the recorded earthquakes.
Map of the anomalous geomagnetic field indicates that the deep structure of the depression has a complex character and registered low-intensity seismicity can be generated from local geotectonic disorders.
Map of Bouguer anomalies suggests that Skopje depression has two minimums which are located east and west of the center of the depression. This suggests that the greatest depths of the depression are in its eastern and western part, while the central part is relatively elevated.
Analyzing the presented tectonic and geophysical data, Skopje depression has a complex geological structure which is manifested in the presented geophysical fields.
