Abstract
A lot of educational workers would agree that the biggest enemy of the teaching process is the boredom and the anxiety of the students. The best way of penetrating the so called effective filter is to create a feeling of relaxation and enjoyment during the lectures. One of the useful techniques and methods for achieving a relaxed atmosphere during the lecture is the game, which can be used during every lecture, no matter what kind of subject is being taught, what is the type of the lesson or the age of the student. Also using the game is absolutely necessary during the foreign language lectures.
The days when the game was considered as a marginal activity for tired teachers and for students that cannot or don’t want to pay attention on more complex exercises are in the past. The motivational importance of the game during the lecture was valued since the early 1970s, which can be seen from the writings on this theme that were published in the Modern Teacher publication.
Key words: motivation, communication, rules, competition.
