Abstract

The democracy itself depends on equal participation of both sexes.
Entrepreneurship activities are available for both sexes officially, but in reality
numerous obstacles exist for women entrepreneurs. Maybe the most important
obstacle is their limited access to financial services. The lack of financial
services could be overcome using the banking with the poor strategy. As the
name implies, this concept abandons the traditional banking views, and has the
objective to offer financial services to the financially fragile population. The
objective of this paper is to present the numerous strategies and products of
banking with the poor and the way in which these products could impact the
women entrepreneurship level. Moreover, banking for poor was initially
developed for poor economies, thus some changes should be made to the
concept as a result of the differences in the functioning of poor and emerging
economies.
