Abstract

Rapid changes that occurred as a result of transition and democratization of society has led to a new situation for the dissemination of the vices of modern times (alcoholism, drugs, domestic violence, smoking at a younger age, etc.). Impoverishment and unemployment of youth, difficult socialization and adaptation to new social environment, the feeling of non-promising are just some of the reasons to reach for drugs, alcohol and other vices.
One of the important goals of medicine has always been "better to prevent than to cure". To me this significantly refers to the prevention of risky behaviour.
The impact of this view and others like it have imposed the need of prevention, which is based on several theoretical bases that are most applicable in practice, through the application of preventive programs for risky behaviour to promotion of children and youth’s mental health.
There is not enough research regarding the appearance of risky behaviours among students who are accommodated in dormitories. Because of this, a research has been done about the students who are accommodated in dormitories. Without control of the parents, students who live outside their homes can easily find themselves on a crossroad where they will have to decide which path to choose.
They can choose either the path of good education and return home as educated people and society can rely on them in the future or they can choose the path of addiction and return home as addicts or even not return home. The role of the dormitories is seen here through their care and placement of children, supervision and physical care, their upbringing and intellectual education, formation of character through all stages of age, up to 20.
The aim of this research is to determine how the existence and implementation of programs for prevention of risky behaviours among students placed in the dormitory by the pedagogical staff, acts on reducing the appearance of risky behaviour among students living in dormitories.
The applied techniques of interviewing, survey, documentation analysis as well as analysis of the results obtained, it was concluded that implementation of the content for prevention plan and programme of educational activities in the dormitories, contributes to reduce the risky behavior among students. It also

contributes to increase the resistance and defensiveness to risky behavior and improving their education and awareness about risky behavior.
