Abstract

We partly inform ourselves about the measures against the deviant and delinquent student behavior in the past using the historical data that describe the punishment of the students and the way discipline was maintained amongst them in that period. We will say straight away that in the ancient times the physical punishment of the students was quite dominant. This type of punishment was supported not just by the social but also by the religious factors, which in those times organized the educational process. The method of physical punishment had been present amongst every known antique civilization, even though there were individuals that opposed this method or spoke that the same is not efficient.
