Abstract
Every educational skill can be defined as encouragement of the growth and
development of children. However, this is a complex and delicate task which requires
a lot from the teachers of any kind of subjects, especially those teaching Ethics in
religion, as it is the case with Ethics in Orthodox Christianity. The principal task of the
Orthodox education is to help children develop into individuals who will be open to
God and to other people as icons of God; individuals who will be capable to deeply
understand the civilization and culture they live in; the history of human kind and its
accomplishments in the various fields of creativity; individuals who will be able to find
balance between themselves and their community, to understand, to reconsider and
evaluate their personal approach towards every man as a unique human being; and
of course, individuals who will be able to consider other people's opinions, to repent,
to limit themselves so as to help the others, and thus, to become individuals ready to
find the true freedom in life understood as a union with God and with other people.
In order to be able to convey this knowledge to his/her students, it is
necessary for the teacher to have notions in didactics, and to convey the Christianeducational
contents in the best way so that the students are able to achieve the
goals and tasks of the Orthodox Christian education
