Abstract
This text contains some general data about the creative work of one of Australia's most famous writers Katharine Susannah Prichard. She belonged to the group of writers who wanted to create a national literature of Australia and most of her works carry a very strong social message as she wrote about workers and Aborigines. Her novels are based on considerable documentary material she collected before writing. Even today literary critics can not agree about the value of her literary work. Nevertheless, her novels and characters reflect her literary mission: to make the world a better place for everyone, especially the underprivileged.
