Abstract
In our case report we will illustrate the indication for ridge augmentation prior to the placement of endoosseous dental implant. Periodontitis can result significant destruction of the alveolar ridge. When damage to the alveolar ridge is extensive after extraction that implant installation would compromise prosthesis the extraction site should be treated with bone bovine substituent. Materials and methods: A 27 year old female patient visits our clinic with Periodontitis on the right mandibular first molar. It was decided to remove the tooth and reconstruct alveolar ridge so that implant could be placed in a sufficient volume bone. The tooth were extracted, sockets were debrided and grafted with bone bovine substituent. Implant placement occurred 8 months after extraction of the tooth. After 4 months implant placement prosthetic restoration was made. Conclusions: Surgical reconstruction of these tissues and the procedure of ridge augmentation and subsequent placement of dental implant are necessary. Advantages of an augmented alveolar ridge with sufficient bone volume to adjust for uncompromised and esthetic implant placement renders, these procedures more than effective for majority of patients.
