Abstract

Detailed geological investigations showed that the Dolna Brca clay deposit and the vicinity are composed of Triassic and Quaternary sediments and Plocene layers. Clay ore bodies occur in the Plocene sediments in various thickness and irregular shape. According to their chemical composition it is believed that the clays from the deposit are good for the production of rough ceramics. In terms of their mineralogy the clays are affiliated to illite clays. They are composed of illite, quartz and organic material. Ore reserves of B+C1+C2 categories amounting to 3.739.570 have been determined.
